C39 - Château Olivier 2018 Pessac-Léognan
Detailní popis produktu
Unlike most châteaux in Bordeaux, Château Olivier is a real medieval château. Set in the heart of a vast estate with woods, meadows and vines, it looks like a clearing rising out of the forest. The Black Prince (Edward of Woodstock) stayed and hunted here for a time - 1356-60. It has been owned by the Bethmann family since 1886. In the last few years, there has been considerable work and investment in the vineyards of Château Olivier.
Soil: clay-limestone sands and gravels; exceptional variety of quartz, quartzite, jasper, agate and Lydian stone
Area of vineyards: 60 ha, of which 50 ha of red varieties
Planted: 7 000 to 10 000 heads per hectare
Harvesting: by hand, in crates
Ageing: 12 months in oak barrels, a third of which are new
Production: 280,000 bottles
Château Olivier produces seductive, confident and highly engaging wines. A balanced blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties allows them to improve with age, becoming smoother, fuller, with an exceptionally velvety and elegant richness on the long finish. Their bouquet, often floral, complements the flavour perfectly. The wines of Château Olivier are the archetype of the fine wines of Bordeaux.
